conformation shows, sanction matches and obedience trials. This intent
to participate includes: Sincerely,

Upcoming Events
– Toronto & Ottawa Candlelight
Vigil As many of you already know, there
are only 10 days left until the Ontario pit bull ban, a.k.a. Bill 132, goes
into effect and thousands of lives are lost. Please show your support against
the ban and in memory of all “pit
bulls” killed by ignorance
and fear by attending the upcoming Candlelight Vigil. We need to show our
strength and support, in numbers. We need you
there.
There are two Candlelight Vigils
being held on Sunday, August 28, 2005. One will be held at Queen’s Park in
Toronto at 8:00pm and the other at the Human
Rights Monument in Ottawa at 8:00pm. Candles will be available at
both locations.
This is not just about pit bull
type dogs. This is about all dogs, responsible ownership and punishing the deed,
not the breed. They started with pit bulls, which breed will be next? We are
still here and we are still fighting for our rights and the rights of our dogs
to be treated equally. Please help remind the Ontario Government that at the end
of every leash there is a voter. Breed Specific Legislation will not improve
public safety. Only generic dangerous dog legislation and education
will.
This event is
a peaceful gathering in opposition to Bill 132. This will be the last gathering
organized before the ban goes into effect, on Monday, August 29,
2005. If you have any
questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or visit www.brok.ca for more information.
Thank you and hope to
see you all there,
Samantha

At the end of EVERY leash there is a VOTER. Candles will be

Organized by those who know that Breed
Specific Legislation is NOT the answer.

Ottawa Walk, August 7
ROUTE UPDATE! URGENT!
Rain date: August 14, 2005
Meet at 10:00 am at Confederation Park.
Before starting the walk, we will decide: Is it too hot to do the full walk? If not, do route 1. If so, we do route 2.
Route 1:
Leave Confederation Park and proceed north up Elgin to Wellington
(south side of street). Travel west on Wellington to Lyon Street.
Cross
over Wellington to the north side of Wellington up through Parliament
Hill (lower level), stopping on Parliament Hill so Squibs can give her
speech and exit at the main gate. Cross over Wellington to the south
side and travel east to Elgin. Head up Elgin to Sparks Street Mall,
where we can gather, have drinks, answer public questions, whatever.
Route 2:
Leave Confederation Park and proceed north up Elgin to Wellington
(cross to north side of street). Go into Parliament Hill, where Squibs
can give her speech.
Exit Parliament Hill and cross to south
side of Wellington. Walk down Wellington to Elgin. Follow Elgin to
Sparks Street Mall, and gather for the duration, sitting in the shade,
have a drink, being available to the public.
Please email Christine
Hernden to let her know if you will be able to attend (dogs by invite
only, please contact Christine for more information).
Please bring a
towel for your dog(s). Water will be available to wet them down to place on the
dogs if it is a hot day.
If it is too hot, we will either re-schedule for the rain day (August 14) or we will shorten the walk.
Also, if you have a child attending with you and
they wouldn't mind handing out flyers, please let Christine
Hernden know.
Signs -- please feel free to make up signs and bring them
along!!
Let's make this a great event! People need to see how great our
dogs are and what responsible, law abiding, wonderful (non-criminal type) people
that we are.
Cheers!

Thank you to the Algoma Dog Fanciers!
The
SBTCC wishes to the thank the Algoma Dog Fanciers (Sault Ste. Marie)
for their extremely generous donation to the Legal Defense Fund!
They have donated $1 from every entry in the 6 conformation shows they held in June 2005.
This raised $1050 for the fund!
A special thanks to Kathy Lake - President of ADF - for the original idea and for following through with her club.
